In recent news “projects that increase bicycle use over fossil-fuel-burning vehicles can now earn carbon credits” thanks to the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism. This will hopefully incentivise more projects which involve people getting on their bikes and riding. Considering transport accounts for 7% of global emissions it’s pretty damn important we make the shift. Although there are many bikes to choose from, our favourite is Critical Cycles by Westridge, who usually collaborate with organisations to plant trees and are very affordable.
If purchasing a bike is not for you, or you already have one, why not donate to Sierra Club Foundation, which focuses on climate solutions through grassroots activism and community development. You can find out more and donate here.
